
On the 12th of November 2022, at the COP27 climate change conference in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, an Indian Pune-based NGO ‘Swayam Shikshan Prayog’ received the Local Adaptation Champions Award organized by the Global Centre on Adaptation. The NGO will receive 15,000 euros as cash, certificate and memento as part of the award.

On 20th November 2022, the fourteenth and final day of the COP27 at Sharm-el-Sheikh, Egypt, the parties to the conference agreed to a historic decision to establish and operationalize a loss and damage fund, particularly for nations most vulnerable to the climate crisis.

On 19th November 2022, the thirteenth day of the COP27 at Sharm-el-Sheikh, a proposal was put up to set up a fund to benefit countries coping with irreparable damage from the consequences of climate change such as severe storms, floods, droughts and wildfires after plenty of negotiations between the developed and developing countries.

18th November 2022, the twelfth day of the COP27 at Sharm-el-Sheikh was supposed to be the last day of the conference. However, due to the disagreements between parties on a number of crucial issues, including funding for loss and damage, the climate summit had to be prolonged in order to allow more time for negotiations.

On 17th November 2022, the eleventh day of the COP27 at Sharm-el-Sheikh, it was Solutions Day at the conference. Hence, the day focused on innovations to amplify climate finance, finance approaches to protect against loss and damages and more.

On 16th November 2022, the tenth day of the COP27 at Sharm-el-Sheikh, it was Biodiversity Day at the conference.

On 15th November 2022, the ninth day of the COP27 at Sharm-el-Sheikh, the themes of the day were ACE (Action for Climate Empowerment) and Civil Society Day, as well as Energy Day.

On 14th November 2022, the eighth day of the COP27 at Sharm-el-Sheikh, it was Water Day at the conference and the AWARE (Action for Water Adaptation and Resilience) initiative was launched by the COP presidency. It will provide water security and climate change adaptation solutions to communities and ecosystems facing extreme water scarcity.

On 12th November 2022, the seventh day of the COP27 at Sharm-el-Sheikh, Adaptation and Agriculture Day was adapted as theme of the day. Climate change and nutrition, financing for climate-smart agriculture, and adaptation technology were the major topics for the focus of the sessions.

On 11h November 2022, the sixth day of the COP27 at Sharm-el-Sheikh, Egypt, the COP27 President Sameh Shoukry and the United States Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry co-hosted a special session on “Advancing Adaptation Action in Africa”.
