NTPC and Gujarat Gas Ltd. have come together for the initiative of blending green hydrogen with piped natural gas which would be supplied by Gujarat Gas Ltd.
A company statement said, “With the continued focus on clean environment, NTPC has taken up an initiative of blending green hydrogen in Piped Natural Gas (PNG) network of GGL (Gujarat Gas Ltd) at NTPC Kawas.”
This is one of the novel projects in our country, a step forward in decarbonizing the cooking sector and making India self-sufficient on energy requirements, it added.
The NTPC group aims to achieve 60 GW of RE in the coming ten years and is planning to execute several pilot projects in green hydrogen sector.
NTPC is the major energy utility of the nation having an installed capacity of 69 GW, with a diversified fuel mix whereas GGL is India’s largest gas distribution company with its presence across 43 districts in six states including one union territory.
