  • Ocean’s temperature and acidic level reached a record high in 2021: WMO

    The new report released by the World Meteorological Department (WMO) highlighted that the ocean’s temperature and acidic levels touched a record high in the last year. The ‘State of the Global Climate’ report highlighted that the record rise in the global temperature has resulted in the significant melting of glaciers and thus increased the sea level to new heights.

    According to IEA’s 2020 report, the Netherlands’ 71% energy came from fossil based fuel sources..The country is now going to be the second in the list of countries issuing ban on fossil fuels for heating purposes after Germany.

  • Panaji’s all Govt buildings will be solar powered: Goa Power Minister

    The power minister of Goa Sudin Dhavalikar announced that all the 76 government buildings in Panaji will be installed with solar panels to meet their energy demands. The minister also highlighted that the State’s Assembly complex will also get a solar panel after the confirmation from the Assembly speaker.

  • The UK is planning to establish a solar power plant in space

    The United Kingdom is planning to install a beaming solar power station in space and aspires to establish a demonstrator in orbit by 2035. British aerospace manufacturer Airbus in collaboration with Cambridge University, satellite manufacturer SSTl and over 50 other tech organizations has joined the UK Space Energy Initiative which aims to establish the first solar power plant in space.

    A new report ‘Drought in numbers’ published by the UN has warned that the world is going to witness more severe cases of droughts due to the rising global temperature. The human-induced activities are already causing water scarcity and affecting billions of people across the world and the new data is pointing out that the situation is going to get worse in the near future, the report added.
